Writing Statements of Teaching Philosophy
1.5 hours

Intended Audience

This class is intended for advanced graduate students preparing to enter the academic job market, but is open to all who are interested.

Overview

So you polished your CV and cover letter, and your recommendation letters are all lined up. What's next? A statement of your teaching philosophy. Not sure what that is, exactly, or what it should include? Not convinced that you even have a philosophy for teaching?

During this class we will talk about what a statement of teaching philosophy is (or ought to be), what it should include, and what it should look like. We will also examine sample statements and consider what the experts recommend. Join us as we nail down this seemingly mysterious genre and help you put your teaching philosophy into words.
