6 hours (four 1.5-hour meetings)

Intended Audience

Undergraduate or graduate students who are writing for a variety of professors and other audiences, and who want to learn to write mature yet readable prose suited to any writing situation.

Overview

Does your prose sound “flat”? Well, if you’re interested in improving the quality and clarity of your prose, then it is our recommendation that you give consideration to participation in this class. Or rather: We recommend that you consider participating in this class. Or maybe: We recommend this class. Get the picture?

In this class we’ll consider effects of stylistic variations while we review standards for clear and readable prose. This class is especially appropriate for graduates and undergraduates who write about complex ideas, and who want to make these ideas accessible to their readers.
