Email Services

The Writing Center has a range of services available by email. For more information on how to use email to get in touch with us, click on one of the options below.


General questions about services

If you have questions about any of the Writing Center’s services, please send email to writing@wisc.edu. You can expect an answer within two business days.

To make or cancel an appointment, please call the Writing Center—currently, we can neither accept nor cancel appointments via email.

To ask grammar, punctuation, citation, or other writing questions, please use the Writing Consultant form.


Class registration or cancellation

To register for one of the Writing Center’s classes, go to the web page for the class you'd like to take and fill out the registration form.You should receive a confirmation of your registration within a couple days. We will also automatically send a reminder by email 2 to 3 days before the class meets for the first time.

If you have questions about our classes, you can write to us at wcclass@facstaff.wisc.edu. If you find you can't attend a class for which you've registered, please cancel your registration.


Questions about writing

If you have specific questions about a paper you’re writing, and would like to receive an answer by email, you may Ask the Writing Consultant. A Writing Center instructor will reply to your question within two business days.

If you are working on a paper that you’d like a Writing Center instructor to read and respond to, please take a look at our Email Instruction information.

Submitting a draft online for an email response is an option you should explore. Of course, email instruction may not be right for every paper or every student, so please read our information fully.
