Wisconsin Teacher Enhancement Program

Mission: A UW-Madison program to support science teachers so that all students engage in scientific inquiry and the practice of science through engaging in scientifically oriented questions, giving priority to evidence, formulating explanations, connecting explanations to scientific knowledge, and communicating and justifying explanations

WisTEP--six areas of support for K-12 science education

  • Science Content and Pedagogy
    • To assist teachers in their instructional practice for effective science teaching by offering courses and learning opportunities for science content and pedagogy--on campus, online, and around the world
  • Research Experiences for Teachers
    • To create research opportunities in laboratories at UW-Madison for science teachers
  • Research Opportunities for Classes
    • To share and support research programs for students in their classrooms
  • International Science Education Center
    • To share the most effective practices in science instruction and professional development with science teachers, science education professionals, and science administrators from around the world
  • Science Education Leadership
    • To assist and support individuals in positions of leadership and school districts as they move forward with reforming science instruction in the K-12 classroom

  • Science Teacher Resources
    • To collect, promote, and share science materials developed at UW-Madison that offer pedagogical content knowledge support for science teachers

WisTEP--facilitating and assisting UW-Madison scientists, educators, and outreach personnel so that they can be involved with the K-12 educational community in an effective and efficient manner
