Double Issue
As some of you may have noticed, publication of our newsletter has fallen behind. Hence, in an effort to begin to"catch up", we here publish the Fall/Winter 1998 WiSSPers as a double issue (comprising volume 5, numbers 2 and 3). Included are a broad historical, personal, in-depth "In Depth" column, as well as a special guest article (usually printed in two separate parts) published here in total. [Please note that if you have a paid subscription, this issue will only count "once", i.e. you will still receive four WiSSPers newsletters for your subscription price. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there are any mailing errors.]

In Depth
The "In Depth" article, found on page 2, is a 16 year retrospective of the Wisconsin Stillbirth Service Program by its founder and director, Dr. Richard M. Pauli. This review contains details of our past and present, and some thoughts about what our future may hold.

If you have been with us from the beginning, it will remind you of where we have been and where we yet may travel. If your involvement is more recent, you will read the necessary background to understand our present, and the possibilities (or impossibilities) of the future.

Guest Article
We are pleased to be able to print the article "Ten Common Myths About Children and Grief", written by Dr. Alan Wolfelt.

We often forget that when a baby is born still, the entire family is affected, including the youngest members. The guest article in this issue will help both caregivers and parents provide for the special needs of the youngest survivors.

Follow-up Letter
The annual WiSSP follow-up survey, sent to all WiSSP hospital contact persons, will soon follow your receipt of this issue of WiSSPers. It will only be accompanied by a short cover letter, since the "In Depth" article includes the information we would otherwise share.

If we are to successfully move forward, your evaluation of the past year is vital. Please return the survey with your comments and suggestions.
