Personal Portraits

Sharon List is a long time friend of the Wisconsin Stillbirth Service Program, initially as the stillbirth contact at Appleton Medical Center, and currently as contact at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center and Member of the WiSSP Advisory Council.

Sharon received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire in 1970, and in 1989 completed a graduate degree in nursing with a concentration in genetics at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. For the past four years she has been the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Genetics at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center, where her responsibilities, in addition to those as the stillbirth contact, include genetics clinic coordination and education efforts with the lay and professional communities. She is also actively involved in parent support networks — Pregnancy After Loss (a group for persons either thinking about or already experiencing a pregnancy following a previous loss), a support group for parents of children with Down syndrome, a network for families who have made the difficult decision to terminate a pregnancy, and The Arc.

Sharon and her husband, Bob, have two children, Julie, age 20, and David, age 18. When not busy with professional and family activities, Sharon enjoys travel, flower gardening and interior decorating, although music is her real passion. She plays piano, is a long time choir member, and loves to listen to any type of music (except country and opera!).
