about WiSSP

Brochures Now Available
The brochures "When Your Baby is Stillborn" and
"Helping When the Least Expected Happens" are
now available. Distribution of the brochures to all
Wisconsin based delivering physicians, childbirth
educators and WiSSP participating hospitals occurred
early in the fall.
"Helping When the Least Expected
Happens" is written for individuals in the
general community who have not experienced
stillbirth, and is intended to increase general
awareness and understanding of the reality of
stillbirth. It is designed for easy display along
with other informational pamphlets in an office
resource area.
"When Your Baby is Stillborn" is
written specifically for parents and families who
have experienced stillbirth, and has a
knowledge-based focus. It is appropriate for a family
any time after a stillbirth occurs, but may be
particularly helpful shortly before or after
delivery, as it contains information that a family
needs in making a decision about evaluative
assessments.
Currently we are able to provide copies of
"Helping When the Least Expected Happens" at no
charge to Wisconsin providers, and minimal charge to all
others. There is a minimal charge for all requests for
"When Your Baby is Stillborn". E-mail (reiser2@waisman.wisc.edu)
or call (608-262-9722) for details of ordering
information.
Website Up and Running
The WiSSP website ( http://www.wisc.edu/wissp
) is now up and running. With this website we hope to
provide support resources, educational materials, and
scientific and medical data to families and medical
personnel. Among other features the website includes
specific information about local and national support
groups, an annotated library of resources, links to
relevant websites, protocol with justification for
stillborn evaluation, annotated citations to recent
literature and on-line copies of all WiSSPers.
If you have access to the worldwide web, check the WiSSP
Website and let us know what you think, by using the
on-line feedback form.
We look forward to your comments and suggestions!
Thank you to the Perinatal Foundation
Production of the new WiSSP brochures and the
WiSSP website were possible only because of grants
obtained from the Wisconsin Perinatal Foundation.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank them
for their generous support of our efforts to help
families who experience stillbirth and the doctors and
nurses who care for them.
