
Personal Portraits
Susan Davidson, M.D., Director of
Perinatology at St. Marys Hospital Medical Center in
Madison, has shared her expertise with the Wisconsin
Stillbirth Service Program in many ways including as an
active member of our Advisory Council.
Dr. Davidson received her medical degree and completed
her residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine,
where she was awarded Outstanding Resident Teacher in
Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1985. Her teaching ability
was further recognized when in 1993 she was named
Clinical Teacher of the year at St. Marys Hospital in the
U.W. Department of Family Medicine.
In addition to her professional responsibilities at
St. Marys Hospital, Dr. Davidson serves on the Board of
Directors for the Wisconsin Association of Perinatal
Care, the External Advisory Committee for the Wisconsin
Teratogen Project and the Scientific Review Committee for
both the Perinatal Foundation and the Dean Foundation.
Dr. Davidson is married to Richard Davidson, Ph.D.,
who is a researcher in the psychobiology of emotion at
the University of Wisconsin, Departments of Psychology
and Psychiatry. They have two children, Amelie, age 13,
and Seth, age 8.
Dr. Davidson enjoys playing the piano and bicycling
with her children. She is also an avid reader of female
mystery writers.
A woman who truly loves what she does, Dr. Davidson
describes her work with families as "incredibly
personally gratifying," and says that she finds
great satisfaction in knowing she has helped a family
during a very difficult time in their lives.
