Wisconsin Stillbirth Service Program

WiSSP has several resources that can be ordered. These resources are educational in nature, with each intended for a particular audience. If you are interested in receiving any of these resources, please fill out our order form.

"When the Least Expected Happens" answers basic questions about stillbirth, such as its frequency, its causes, and common responses parents and families may have when a stillbirth occurs. It is written for the general public, to increase awareness and knowledge about stillbirth and to provide people with suggestions on how to help families cope with such a loss. It may be useful for birthing centers, physicians' offices, childbirth educators, genetics clinics and health educators.

"When Your Baby is Stillborn" has been created specifically for parents who have experienced a stillbirth. In addition to providing factual information regarding causes, evaluation of stillborn infants, and recurrence risks, this pamphlet validates the great sense of loss and depth of grief parents commonly feel when their child is born. See WiSSP Library-Bibliography.

WiSSP scientific publications may be of interest to physicians, nurses, and counselors. This series of articles describes the Wisconsin Stillbirth Service Program and assesses the findings regarding etiology of stillbirth derived from infants referred to the program. Abstracts of these papers are available online.

WiSSPers is our educational newsletter. Every issue contains articles of direct relevance to nurses, physicians, and counselors who work with parents who experience stillbirth.
