4/15/08 Landscape Journal wins ASLA 2008 Communications Award of Honor
The world’s premier peer-reviewed journal in landscape architecture, Landscape Journal: Design, Planning, and Management of the Land has chronicled the evolution of academic discourse for over twenty-five years. Sponsored by the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Journal disseminates emerging scholarship relevant to academics and practitioners.
With contributions from practitioners and academics from both inside and outside landscape architecture, the Spring issue of the anniversary volume (26:1) highlights “Race, Space & the Destabilization of Practice” in landscape architecture.... The Fall issue (26:2) features a smaller theme group on “Modern Manifestos” in landscape architecture, along with an eclectic set of articles on topics ranging from the sacred groves of Greece, to modern lifestyle centers, and a Civil-War themed subdivision in suburban Ohio. This characteristic mixture of themes and topics is crucial to maintaining the liberal value of Landscape Journal to the field of landscape architecture.
Over the course of its twenty-five year history, prized special issues on Nature, Form and Meaning (1988), Landscape and the Avant-Garde (1991), Women, Land and Design (1994), and Eco-Revelatory Landscapes (1998), have recently been joined by special issues on Cross-Cultural Education (2005) and Metropolitan Ecology (Spring 2008), to mirror an evolving sense of mission in the field.

April 4, 2008 Monatshefte Celebrates 100th Volume The editorial staff and the publisher of Monatshefte, celebrated the publication of its 100th volume on Friday, April 4th, 2008.
Founded in 1899, Monatshefte is the longest-published journal devoted to the study of German literature and culture in the United States . It is recognized by leaders in the field as one of the premier publications of German scholarship, and the premier journal for German literary criticism in the U.S. Since its inception, it has shaped the concerns and debates of German Studies within the U.S. The journal has been produced by the Department of German at UW Madison since the 1920's, and has been published by UW Press since 1964 when the Journals Division was added.
Monatshefte is published 4 times per year, with each winter issue featuring “Personalia,” a listing of college and university German Department personnel from across the U.S. and Canada , special surveys, and articles regarding the professional concerns of college and university German instructors.
Since January 2008, Monatshefte is available online. And beginning in 2008, the complete digital archive of the journal from the very first issue will be included in JSTOR, a provider of online archives of important scholarly journals. It is also available through Project Muse.
