Ecquid Novi: African Journalism Studies is a refereed academic journal published by the University of Wisconsin Press, which aims to foster a better understanding of journalism, media studies, and mass communication as research disciplines in the comparative context of Africa and the South (http://ajs.uwpress.org/).
We are currently seeking reviews for books on the list below.
Reviews should be 1,000 words long and will be published in forthcoming issues of Ecquid Novi: African Journalism Studies. Review essays (e.g. review of 3 books in 3,000 words) are also welcome. The first upcoming deadline (for the second journal issue of this year) is 1 April 2008. Books that are not reviewed in time will need to be returned to the journal. If you are interested in contributing or would like to suggest other books for review, please send me an email indicating the following:

Mission Statement: Now in its 29th year, Ecquid Novi: African Journalism Studies (EN: AJS) is the premier journal for peer-reviewed research in journalism studies in sub-Saharan Africa. With its focus on Africa, the journal views journalism studies on the continent as part of wider processes of globalization, and welcomes comparative work that discusses issues pertaining to journalism in Africa within broader social, cultural, political and economic relations globally.
Methodologies and topics: There is no prescription regarding theoretical paradigms or methodologies, although interdisciplinary approaches to journalism studies, especially when these are informed by critical perspectives on cultural, political, or socioeconomic issues related to journalism, are particularly welcome.
Editorial Board and Affiliations: The editorial board consists of established and respected journalism scholars from around the world. EN: AJS is affiliated to the Journalism Studies Division of the International Communication Association (ICA) and to the South African Communication Association (Sacomm). The journal sponsors the best journalism research paper at the International Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). The journal is accredited by the South African Department of Education for the purpose of research output by researchers attached to South African universities.
Peer review: Research articles in Ecquid Novi: African Journalism Studies are subjected to rigorous, double-blind peer international review.
