Marc Fink, oboe, and the Pro Arte Quartet


Repertoire for oboe and strings is rich and varied. This CD offers a wide spectrum from the repertoire including Mozart's Quartet for Oboe and Strings, K.370, a work of unparalleled beauty, Crussell's Divertimento, a very beautiful 3 movement classical work by this outstanding Finnish composer and two works of the 20th century: Benjamin Britten's early masterpiece, the Fantasy Quartet and a beautiful single movement musical setting, Snow Country, by Pulitzer Prize winning Wisconsin composer, John Harbison.

Marc Fink has been the faculty oboist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison since the fall of 1973. He is principal oboist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as soloiand chamber music collaborator throughout the world and currently serves as president of the IDRS, an organization representing more than 4,000 double reed players worldwide. Mr. Fink's principal teachers have been Jerry Sirucek, Ray Still, Robert Mayer and Marcel Moyse.
