Take a look around, kick the tires, and then share your thoughts. If you're interested in the hows and whys of our website redesign, there's more on that below. We've compiled a few questions that should only take a minute or two of your time to answer. We've taken just one step forward, and we hope to keep improving with each step. For that, we need you.
The University of Wisconsin–Madison is a world-class university deserving of a world-class website. We've redesigned our site multiple times over the years, but much has changed since our last significant redesign in 2010. We began by looking at our data, plus design and information trends across higher education (and the Internet, at large), and then placed these within the context of UW–Madison's Strategic Priorities and Initiatives:

What you see on the new wisc.edu is a hybrid approach that takes institutional goals, higher-ed trends, and online data into consideration. We’re committed to following an iterative process that will allow us to make changes as needed, yet keep excellence in accessibility and the user experience at the forefront.
We've shifted our focus to prospective relationships. What makes UW–Madison special and different? How can we help people who know nothing about us find what they're looking for, while also maintaining access to the resources that UW students, faculty, and staff rely on? This is a challenging and important task that we don't take lightly. Your opinions are essential to the success of our online projects.
Frequent visitors will discover that news and feature stories will almost exclusively live on the recently launched News site. The home page will continue to highlight select stories that align with the UW’s strategic priorities and lend themselves to our target audience. As with wisc.edu, we'll be paying attention to how people interact with the News site to continually improve that experience. If you have suggestions, please let us know at email@example.com.
So far, we is University Marketing, but we’re leading this project with the help of colleagues across the campus and the Beta Badgers, who have just started to share their ideas. The we will continue to grow as we work together on this site.
