Our Mission
The Office of Child Care & Family Resources is part of the larger University of Wisconsin system, which strives to provide a learning environment in which faculty, staff and students can discover, examine critically and preserve and transfer the knowledge, wisdom, and values that will help ensure the survival of this and future generations while improving the quality of life for all.
The Office of Child Care and Family Resources is committed to the development of a coordinated campus child care system that provides high-quality, affordable and accessible early childhood care and education; addresses the work-life needs of student, faculty and staff families; and fulfills institutional research, instruction and outreach missions.
Our work focuses on 5 main goals:
- To support, strengthen and expand model high-quality early care and education programs and services on campus that provide choices for student, faculty and staff parents.
- To support the Early Childhood Education workforce, profession and quality of programs/staff.
- To assure access and affordability for parents, especially students and lower income staff.
- Outreach, advocacy and shared resources/information with parents, the community, state and national levels to work towards practices that will make a positive difference in the lives of children.
- To provide an organized administrative structure of campus child care and a collaborative system to provide a mechanism to increase resources, improve and assure quality and consistency of care, and provide a wider range of programs and services through coordination, technical support and collaborative long-range planning.
