UW-Madison provides infant/toddler care for faculty, staff and students with children ages 6 weeks to 30 months of age within 5 different sites.
Each program operates on the belief that respectful, trusting relationships form the cornerstone for future learning. The approach helps infants and toddlers become competent and confident; curious and exploring; cooperative and secure.
In order to foster quality care for infants and toddlers, UW programs provide:
Physically safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing environments.
Time for uninterrupted play.
Basic trust in the child to be an explorer and self-learner; freedom to explore and interact with other infants and toddlers.
Involvement of the infant and toddler in care activities that allow him/her to become an active participant rather than passive recipient.
Sensitive observation of the chld in order to understand his/her needs.
Infant and toddler care is in high demand on UW-Madison campus as well as within the community. Families seeking care within campus infant programs should apply early; each program has a different enrollment procedure. Please contact each program individually for more information.
