Student Child Care Scholarship Grant (12–900269)

This fund directly benefits our student parents by providing financial assistance to qualifying students. The scholarship fund operates independently from the University's Child Care Tuition Assistance Program and the federal Access for Infants and Mothers program.

To date, the funds have assisted students facing unusally stressful or emergency situations e.g. medical or mental health issues, natural disasters, and/or change in family structure or dynamics that result in the student parent's inability to sufficiently support child care costs.

This fund was created to help the UW child care centers meet operational needs. Currently, about 93% of center budgets are spent on staff salaries and fringe benefit costs, with 95% of the centers' revenue coming from parent fees.

To date, the fund has provided professional develpment grants for diversity education for center staff, as well as provided digital cameras for all campus programs to improve development recording, assessment and commmunication with families on their child's development.
