A Child's View: Campus Child Care Note Cards

The Office of Child Care and Family Resources creates a set of 6 unique note cards and envelopes that are available for $10.00 throughout the year. Contact Jordan Hanson at jhanson@provost.wisc.edu to purchase the cards. All proceeds will be placed in the New Initiatives Fund at the UW Foundation.

This fund supports the development of new initiatives on campus and contributions to new facilities.

Child Care Scholarship Grant Funds—for Students, Fund #12900269

Scholarships and grants provide financial support for students to support the recruitment and retention mission.

Classified Staff Child Care Grant—Fund #12903555

The high cost of child care can make it difficult for employees to balance their dual roles as employees and parents. As a way of acknowledging the valuable contributions of our classified staff, this program assists in making high quality child care more accessible. This benefits the child, the employee and the employer.

Classified Staff Child Care Grant provides reimbursement of regulated child care.

Connie L. Wilson Center Grant—Fund #12902023

This fund provides direct, annual support to campus child care centers, including equipment purchases or replacement, professional development and playground improvements.

Family Photo Day

Next Photo Day - Spring 2009

A professional photographer will take family or individual photos at the Allen Centennial Gardens. This is a wonderful opportunity to have family photos taken. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Student Child Care Scholarship Fund.

Jazzin'

The 2008 Jazzin' event raised over $7,600. Thanks to all who attended and supported the event, including the Chancellor's office and University Foundation representatives. Local businesses were once again generous in raffle and silent auction donations. We had successful on-line silent auction bidding prior to the event as well as at the event. Jazzin' is an annual jazz concert (each June) with a silent auction and raffle that provide direct benefits to campus child care programs and a fun evening of entertainment.

This year's event honored the accomplishments of campus early childhood educators for their outstanding service to the university. Each has 20+ years of service on campus and has shown commitment and dedication to the university child care system and to early childhood education; the quality of their work is exceptional!

2009 Jazzin' event will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 5 - 8:30 p.m. Please join us for entertainment provided by the Jan Wheaton Quintet, a silent auction, raffle with fabulous prizes, and additional giving opportunities, each of which directly supports UW-Madison campus child care centers.

This past year's Jazzin' event was held on June 15, 2007 at High Noon Saoon and raised over $7,300! Thanks to all who attended and supported the event, including the Chancellor's Office, University Foundation representatives, and our special guest, Bernice Durand, Associate Vice Chancellor, who has been an outstanding leader for campus child care.

Funds raised from this event are deposited into the Connie L. Wilson Center Grant Fund.
