Child Care Tuition Assistance Program (CCTAP)
The mission of CCTAP is to recruit and support student parents enrolled at UW-Madison.
The goals of CCTAP are to:
- Improve the quality and continuity of child care children receive while their parents are working, studying or attending classes to attain degree completion;
- Provide financial assistance to income eligible student parents who have the greatest need for child care; and
- To increase support and availability of needed services to student parents.
Funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and when program eligibility factors are met.
All students (undergraduate, graduate and special) who are enrolled for graded academic credits at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and who pay segregated fees may apply for CCTAP.
Since 1985, CCTAP has served thousands of student parents with financial assistance for their child care costs and parent/family needs. Funding for the program comes from student segregated fees that are allocated through Student Government. In 1990, the Teacher's Assistant Association (TAA) joined the program, contributing a portion of the program budget through the TAA contract. Their extraordinary commitment to serving student parents has made CCTAP a nationally recognized program.
CCTAP Provides:
- Child care awards to 300-400 student parents (who are enrolled at UW-Madison) each semester and 100 parents each summer session.
- Awards for full and part-time students (award amounts are adjusted according to credit load) who are income eligible.
- Child care assistance and/or after school programs for children ages birth to 12 years who are enrolled in licensed/regulated child care programs in the state of Wisconsin.
- Financial assistance toward child care fees, each semester as long as funds are available. Sorry, CCTAP cannot cover 100% of child care expenses and student parents should expect to self-pay a portion of child care costs. Payments are made to the child care provider after services are rendered.
- The Kids-Kare Program provides sick, back-up, and evening services for eligible CCTAP student parents.
- Family Child Care Training to increase the quality and accessibility of child care for student parents.
- Funding for parent support and educational opportunities for the campus community.
- A no fee voluntary student parent list-serve.
