Viewing or Editing Projects or Proposals in NIMSS

To View an Existing, Approved Project:

  1. Go to the National Information Management Support System at http://www.nimss.umd.edu/.
  2. Click on the "Project Home" icon.
  3. Select the regional association to which the project of interest belongs. If it is an NRSP project, click "National."
  4. Select the type of project you are interested in seeing (ie. NC, NCCC, NCERA, NCAC, NCDC, NRSP).
  5. Choose the project number in which you are interested. Use the arrows at the bottom of the menu to scroll through the options. When you see the project you are looking for, click "Project Homepage."
  6. Use the navigation bar in the upper left side of the screen to choose what you'd like to view. If you'd like to see the entire proposal, click "outline."

 To View a New Proposal, Not Yet Approved:

  1. Go to the National Information Management Support System at http://www.nimss.umd.edu/.
  2. Insert your login and password. (If you don't have a login, you'll need to register.)
  3. In the green navigation bar, mouse-over the word "Projects", choose "View Project" from the dropdown menu, then choose "Search for Project" from the submenu.
  4. Type in any/all of the known project information.  For instance, if you only know the project number (ie. 200) but are not sure of the nomenclature (ie. NC, NCCC, NCERA, etc.) you can just type "200" into the project number blank. 
  5. If you have matched the search criteria exactly, the proposal will appear.  If you only typed in part of the matched criteria, several options may appear for you.  Choose the one for which you are looking. 

To Edit the Proposal (This is the pre-approved project - Available only to those on the writing committee):

  1. Go to the National Information Management Support System at http://www.nimss.umd.edu/.
  2. Insert your login and password. (If you don't have a login, you'll need to register.)
  3. If you have not done so already, notify the System Administrator (ncra@cals.wisc.edu) that you should be authorized as a project coordinator.
  4. In the green navigation bar, mouse-over the word "Projects" and choose "Draft/Edit" from the dropdown menu. The project on which you are working should appear automatically.
  5. Click on the "Proposal" button next to the project number. This should take you to the proposal screen.
  6. Use the options on the left side of the screen to navigate through the proposal by sections.
  7. Make any corrections needed and "Save" at the end of each section when you are finished. Notify the AA when the proposal is complete and ready for review/approval in NIMSS.  The final copy, when submitted by the AA, will be sent to the system administrator's office to be forwarded to the NCAC committees for review.
