  • Candidates admitted into the program who have not completed an M.S. thesis or equivalent research project must complete a research project in lieu of a thesis, and present it at the required proseminar.
  • All entering doctoral students must complete a first-year research project and present it at the required proseminar.
  • The prospectus for the dissertation should be completed and approved no later than the end of the semester or summer session following the semester in which the preliminary examination was taken. The dissertation must be presented at a research colloquium and should precede the final defense of the project. Contact the department for more information.
