Courses that are audited or graded pass/fail or credit/no credit will not count toward program requirements with the exception of Envir St 975 and 976. A maximum of 2 credits graded S may be counted toward program requirements if approved by the student's faculty advisory committee. Courses graded C or lower are not normally accepted toward program requirements. A student's faculty advisory committee, with approval of the program chair, may grant exceptions to this grade requirement. Contact the program office for more information.

A minimum of 30 credits including 9 credits in the biology unit, 9 credits in the sustainable development unit, and 12 credits in the individual concentration unit (including at least 4 research or advanced independent-study credits). Up to 9 of the total required credits may be completed before entering the program provided those credits are placed in the biology unit and/or sustainable development unit.
