DAIRY CATTLE CENTER

The Dairy Cattle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison
campus is located at 1815 Linden Drive. This facility houses about
90 milking cows. The stanchion and tie-stall barn is equipped with
a Boumatic four-stall, side-opening parlor with automatic cow identification,
takeoffs, and production recording.
Used for both teaching and research, the campus dairy is located
about a block away from the classrooms and laboratories of the Dairy
Science Department. The facility also employs students, providing
them with a convenient opportunity to gain practical experience
and earn some income while attending classes. Several breeds are
represented at the Dairy Science facilities, including Brown Swiss,
Jerseys, and Holsteins. The rolling herd average for the Dairy Science
herd is well above 22,000 lbs. of milk.
Campus facility tours are available based on area of interest and
by reservation. Please call (608) 262-2271 for more information.
