Clinical Laboratory Science

Field of Study
The study and provision of diagnostic laboratory testing for health maintenance and monitoring patient therapy, including the study of clinical chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology and hematology.
Possible Careers
Clinical Laboratory Scientists/Medical Technologists are found in the clinical laboratory; health care administration; sales or technical representative positions in related industries; research positions in bacteriology, virology, immunology or toxicology; as physicians or veterinarians; among many others. They take a National Board Certification exam.

- Students must complete CLS 310, Introduction to laboratory procedures before registering for other CLS professional courses or fieldwork.
- Sophomores and juniors have the opportunity to participate in a clinical practicum for phlebotomy experience with potential student employment in many local clinics.
