The study of plants, including plant structure (anatomy and morphology), ecology, genetics, molecular biology, physiology, and taxonomy.
Possible Careers
Research or technical positions at universities, biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, or seed and nursery companies; museum curator of regional flora; nature interpreter at a state or national park; positions in the forest service and Department of Natural Resources.
Special Opportunities & Additional Information
- Botany Club.
- Directed or Independent Study or Senior Thesis Research is required of all majors. Through research opportunities with faculty members, students can acquire skills in current techniques and will be well prepared for graduate school.
