The Institute for Cross-college
Biology Education provides this information as an introduction to
the diversity of undergraduate programs offered in the biological sciences
and hopes that it answers many of your questions concerning the various
majors.
Which biology major is right for you? You are best qualified
to make this decision, but many sources of information and advice are
available on this campus to assist you. If you think you are interested
in biology, this online publication can serve as a starting point by
introducing you to all of the undergraduate majors in the biological
sciences.
Specifically, this online publication:
- Section I: Answers some basic questions about choosing a biology major at UW-Madison
- Section II: Provides suggestions for narrowing your interests and selecting a major;
- Section III: Provides information to assist you in connecting with an advisor;
- Section IV: Provides guidance for choosing courses for your freshman year;
- Section V: Introduces you to the undergraduate majors offered in the biological sciences at UW-Madison;
- Sections VI and VII: Refers you to other sources of information and assistance.
