    Advising

    • Advisor: The Biological Sciences Advisor helps current and prospective students match their interests and abilities to the spectrum of biology opportunities on campus.
    • SOAR: This page for students attending SOAR will help you find out more about biology opportunities at UW-Madison.
    • WBM: The Which Biology Major? is an online publication that describes UW-Madison undergraduate biological sciences majors and provides suggestions to help students choose among them.
    • Where is Biology?: Where Biology is on campus?
    • Which Intro Bio Course?: is a guide to the different introductory biological science courses offered at UW-Madison.
    • The Biological Sciences Course Guide: This searchable database is available on MyUW for UW students and staff. Public access is also available. It includes course descriptions and syllabi, as well as information about class size, format, and specific content.

    Courses

    • WoK Bio: The Ways of Knowing Biology course introduces first-year students to UW-Madison research through seminars, discussion groups and laboratory exploration sessions.
    • BIGs:Biology Interest Groups are small courses for students who co-enroll in the same sections of math and chemistry. BIGs courses, based on a broad disciplinary area of the instructor, will help students integrate science and math through use of biology cases.

    • Research
      • Lab/Field Research: The Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Biology web resource helps undergraduates find research opportunities and mentors at UW-Madison.
      • IBS-SRP: The Integrated Biological Sciences Summer Research Program for Undergraduates offers faculty-mentored research experience for undergraduates.
      • Community-Based Research: Information about research opportunities that address community problems in cooperation with a university mentor and a community partner.
      • New! IconURM: The Undergraduate Research and Mentoring (URM) program is a 3-year program that prepares students interested in interdisciplinary research in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields for admission and success in graduate school and careers in research. It offers a year round monthly stipend, the opportunity to learn how to do research under the guidance of trained mentors, and also to form and lead an interdisciplinary undergraduate learning community.
    • Service
      • Volunteering/Service Learning: This web resource lists ways that undergraduates can find opportunities to work directly with a community agency or to become involved in a "service learning" project that links their community service to course requirements or an independant study project.
