The American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) is an individual membership organization that promotes the changes higher education must make to ensure its effectiveness in a complex, interconnected world. AAHE equips its members C faculty, administrators, and students from all sectors, plus policy makers and leaders from foundations, government, and business C and their institutions with the knowledge they need to bring such changes about.

The Association for Biology Laboratory Education (ABLE) was founded to promote information exchange among university and college educators actively concerned with teaching biology in a laboratory setting. The focus of ABLE is to improve the undergraduate biology laboratory experience by promoting the development and dissemination of interesting, innovative, and reliable laboratory exercises.

The Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) is a scholarly society dedicated to higher education as a field of study. The association promotes collaboration among its members and others engaged in the study of higher education through research, conferences, and publications. ASHE values rigorous scholarly approaches to the study of higher education and practical applications of systematic inquiry.

The objectives of the Association of College and University Biology Educators (ACUBE) are: 1) to further the teaching of the biological sciences at the college and other levels of educational experience; 2) to bring to light common problems involving biological curricula at the college level and by the free interchange of ideas; endeavor to resolve these problems; 3) to encourage active participation in biological research by teachers and students in the belief that such participation is an invaluable adjunct to effective teaching; 4) to create a voice which will be effective in bringing the collective views of the teachers of the biological sciences to the attention of college and civil government administrations. In 1997, this association changed its name from Association of Midwestern College Biology Teachers.
