Greenhouse Services
The Greenhouse staff assists investigators with a variety of services:
- Carts and Platforms
- The Biotron has many sizes of cart and platforms to put in research
rooms. Check out the Cart and Platform page to
see how many plants you can put on each bench.
- Instruments
- The Biotron has a several instruments
available to researchers.
- Nutrient
- We produce our own plant nutrient solution,
which we use in an automatic watering system. The watering system can be
programmed to water on any daily schedule required.
- Carbon Dioxide Control
- The greenhouse at the Biotron has rooms equipped with
carbon dioxide control. In these rooms, we control
the concentration of CO2 in the room while maintaining
temperature and humidity control.
- Pesticides
- We also have several different types of pesticides and can apply them
to plants upon request. Our pesticide room has a fume hood and storage
space to accommodate researchers with their own pesticides.
All pesticide applications must be in compliance with OSHA regulations.
The greenhouse manager is a State of Wisconsin Certified Pesticide
Applicator and must approve or apply all chemicals used.
