ARABIDOPSIS
Arabidopsis is an ideal plant for many types of plant research.
In the Biotron we have three levels of controlled growth space
for Arabidopsis.
- In the Biotron greenhouses, evaporatively
cooled rooms, with or without supplemental light, are ideal for
growing large numbers of Arabidopsis in the winter months. For large
screenings or for large-scale seed bulking this is the most economical
option. If you would like to have the economy of this option without
renting a whole room we can rent space by the flat. If you would like
to have us bulk up seed, contact us for a quote.
- Air-conditioned greenhouses with up to
400 µmol m-2s-1 supplemental light
are available if you want closer control of the temperature.
- Inside the Biotron two rooms have been specially modified
to grow Arabidopsis or to serve as plant culture rooms. Light
levels are 125 µmol m-2s-1 and
humidity is controllable from 10 to 90%. Daylength can also be controlled.
These rooms have the highest level of control and are most like conditions
normally used to grow Arabidopsis. The picture on the right shows the
arrangement of the Arabidopsis rooms.
