Later Chinese Art: From the Tenth Century to the Present

This course traces the evolution of art forms and concepts developed in China from the mid-10th century to the present day, and examines their transformations in modern and contemporary China.   Organized chronologically, the course surveys painting, calligraphy, woodblock printing, ceramics, architecture, and multimedia installations.   Grades will be based on three equally weighted examinations.  Open to Freshmen.
