Mountain Landscape, mural on prepared wall surface, dateable to 923.

Anon. (excavated from a Liao tomb in northeast China):

Temple in the Mountains, hanging scroll, ink and color on silk; dateable to third quarter of 10th c. Liaoning Provincial Museum.

Attributed to Jing Hao (ca. 855-915):

Mt. Kuanglu hanging scroll, ink on silk. National Palace Museum, Taiwan. (3000 Years of Chinese Painting, pl. 85)

Jing Hao also wrote Notes on Brush Method (Bifa ji), describing "6 Essentials":

qi = life breath, yun = resonance, si = thought, jing = scenery, bi = brushwork, mo =inkwash.

Attributed to Guan Tong (fl. early 10th c):

Autumn Mountains at Dusk, hanging scroll, ink on silk. National Palace Museum, Taiwan. (3000 Years of Chinese Painting, pl. 86)

cun (ts'un) = texture strokes, stippling of the surfaces of rocks and mountains.
