Native Student Groups


 

Wunk Sheek

This Native student group promotes unity among Indian students on campus and provides a base from which work can be done for the advancement of American Indian people.Every year, Wunk Sheek sponsors many events such as camping retreats, Indian-rock band and Native-rap concerts, celebrity campus visits, a Native art contest, a Unity Walk/Run, an Indian movie month, a "Taste of Cultures" fry bread stand, trips to other pow-wows, performances at local schools and events.  The most popular event that Wunk Sheek holds is the traditional pow-wow held every spring in the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse and a Veterans mini pow-wow on campus.  Wunk Sheek has an active student drum group that sings every week.  The student meetings are also held every week at the "Old" Wunk Sheek office

American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society is a national association which seeks to motivate and encourage students in science, engineering and technology.

 

Indian Law Students Association (ILSA)

The Indian Law Students Association is a national American Indian law student organization designed to establish a Native law student network in the law school.  Every spring, on this campus, ILSA sponsors the annual Coming Together of the Peoples Conference.
